Harvest Festival Parade

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2008 - 1:00 PM
Front Street (Route 405), Milton

Information for Participants:

Starting Line: Carl Hega Chevrolet, 1200 N Front Street, Milton
Reviewing Stand: Firman's CITGO Station, 20 N Front Street, Milton
Finish Line: ConAgra, South Front Street, Milton

  1. FLOATS will form at the north end of Milton on Route 405, north of B&B Beverage. The maximum height for clearance in the parade route is 12 feet, 6 inches.
  2. VEHICLE/MARCHING UNITS will form behind Carl Haga Chevrolet (1200 N Front Street). To access the vehicle/marching unit area, use the 10th Street entrance beside B&B Beverage. Personal vehicles will not be allowed to enter this area. Plan to drop off entrants at the intersection of 10th Street and Route 405.
  3. CHILDREN participating in the parade MUST be supervised before, during and after the parade.
  4. COMMERCIAL ENTRIES are limited to one entry that must be decorated in the spirit of the festivities.
  5. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, however there is no entry fee to participate in the parade.

Please Note: The Harvest Festival Committee and the Milton Police Department WILL NOT ALLOW CANDY OR OTHER ARTICLES TO BE THROWN FROM MOVING VEHICLES. Candy and other handouts may be distributed by walking attendants. Anyone who does not adhere to this policy, may be asked to leave the parade route and/or may not be allowed to return for future parades. Child Safety along the route must be a first consideration.

Parade Judging - Floats Only

Float Judging will occur before the parade and as each entry passes the Reviewing Stand. Judging will be done in the following categories:

  1. Commercial/Retail
  2. Clubs & Organizations
  3. Church Groups
  4. Youth Groups

Judging Criteria:

WORKMANSHIP

  1. Originality* - 10 pts
  2. Quality of Work - 10 pts

DESIGN

  1. Originality* - 10 pts
  2. Durability - 10 pts
  3. Animation - 10 pts

GENERAL EFFECT

  1. Prior to Parade* - 10 pts
  2. During the Parade - 10 pts

THEME - 80 pts

COSTUME & CASTING - 10 pts

TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS - 160 pts

Please note: Floats not in line by the 11:00 AM deadline, will receive a 10 point deduction.

Float Prizes:

1st Prize: $100 and trophy
2nd Prize: $75
3rd Prize: $50

A GRAND PRIZE "Arrowhead" Award ($125 and trophy) is awarded to the BEST Float in the parade.
